Download ByeDPI

Two official projects, two official download pages — and nothing else. Everything on this page exists to make sure the file you install is the real one.

ByeDPI core — Linux & Windows

The original local SOCKS proxy by hufrea, MIT-licensed. This is the program (ciadpi) you run on a computer and point your browser or system at.

ByeDPI for Android — APK

The Android app by dovecoteescapee, GPL-3.0. It runs the same ByeDPI proxy locally and routes your phone's traffic through it using Android's VPN mode. No root needed.

Other ways to get the Android app

The Android app can also be tracked and updated with Obtainium: install Obtainium, add the app by its GitHub repository URL (https://github.com/dovecoteescapee/ByeDPIAndroid), and Obtainium will tell you when a new release appears. The app is also listed on IzzyOnDroid, an F-Droid repository that builds its catalogue from open-source projects. Whichever route you choose, the trail should always lead back to the same official GitHub repository — that is the check that matters.

Watch out for fakes

Because tools like this are searched for a lot, fake copies appear on random download sites — some bundled with malware or wrapped in “installers” that add unrelated software. Check three things before you install anything:

  • The download comes from one of the two GitHub repositories above.
  • Nobody asks you to pay. ByeDPI is free; there is no premium or unlocked version.
  • There is no separate “installer” program. The core is a single small program, and the Android app is a plain APK from the releases page.

If a page fails any of those checks, do not install its file, however convincing its screenshots look.

After you download

Installation is short on every platform: about five minutes on Android (install the APK, open it, tap Start, accept the VPN prompt), and a few commands plus one proxy setting on desktop. The installation guide walks through both, and the best settings guide explains what to try if your provider still blocks a site with the defaults. If something goes wrong, start with the troubleshooting guide before changing random settings.

Updating

Providers update their filters, and ByeDPI's bypass methods are actively maintained in response. If a setup that worked stops working, updating to the latest release from the same official page is always the first step — see the advice in Support.
